The "iSend SMS for WooCommerce" plugin connects your store to the iSend platform and automatically sends SMS or Viber messages at every stage of the order. The connection needs two keys: the License Key, which activates the plugin on your domain, and the API Token, which is found in your account on the platform and through which the messages go out. It requires WordPress 5.8 or newer, WooCommerce 5.0 or newer and PHP 8.2 or 8.3.
What you need before you start
| Item | Where you find it |
|---|---|
| Plugin file (zip) | You receive it from us together with your account details. |
| License Key | Format ISEND-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. You receive it together with the plugin. |
| API Token | iSend platform, Developers menu. |
| Active Sender ID | iSend platform, Sender ID menu. In the trial it is "TEST iSend". |
| Administrator access to WordPress | For the installation and the settings. |
The plugin also works with the trial account. The 50 trial credits are consumed by the store's messages like by any other send.
The connection in five steps
- Installation. In WordPress go to Plugins, Add New, Upload and upload the zip. Activate it. The iSend SMS option appears in the menu. If WooCommerce is missing, the plugin reports it and does not proceed.
- License Key. On the iSend SMS, Settings page type the key and press Verify. The first time, the license is automatically bound to your domain. The indicator changes to "Active" and the modules included in your package appear.
- API Token. In the API Settings card paste the token from the platform's Developers menu and press Test Connection. With a successful connection you see your credit balance and the plugin automatically loads the Sender IDs of your account.
- Sender and channel. In the Sender Settings card select a Sender ID from the list. It accepts only those that are active in your account, and without a Sender ID sending remains disabled. Select the channel: SMS or Viber with automatic SMS fallback, where if the Viber message is not delivered the message goes out as an SMS. The country code defaults to +30 for numbers without a prefix.
- Modules and test. In the Active Modules section enable the ones you want and press Save Settings. Then, from the Dashboard, send a test message with Quick Send to your own mobile.
If a new Sender ID is approved on the platform later, press Test Connection again so that it appears in the plugin's list.
What each module does
Each module is enabled separately and is unlocked according to the license package.
| Module | What it sends |
|---|---|
| Orders | SMS on every order status change, with your own text per status and an optional notification to the administrator. |
| Shipping | SMS with tracking number and tracking link, delivery notification, pickup reminder. Works with the Greek courier voucher plugins. |
| Abandoned Cart | Reminders to anyone who left products in the cart, with quiet hours, coupon and A/B tests. |
| OTP Verification | One-time code for mobile number confirmation. Always sent as SMS. |
| Phone Validation | Format check of the mobile number at checkout, before the order is completed. |
| Customers | Welcome SMS on registration, duplicate phone check, contact sync with the platform. |
| Balance Alerts | Notification when credits drop below a threshold, and a daily report by email. |
| Stock | Administrator notification for low stock and "Notify me" for customers waiting for a product. |
Order and shipping messages are transactional messages. They do not get the STOP link and are delivered even to customers who have opted out of your promotional lists.
History and security
Every message the plugin sends is recorded in the SMS Log inside WordPress, with recipient, text, Sender ID, delivery status, cost and the platform's response. The history is kept for 90 days by default and can be exported to CSV.
The license is verified automatically once a day. If the site temporarily loses communication with iSend, the plugin continues to send for 48 hours. To move to another domain, use Deactivate License before installing on the new site. Deactivating the plugin does not delete settings or history. The platform server is locked to sms.isend.gr and does not change.
If something does not work
- "Sender ID is required". No Sender ID has been selected or the selected one is no longer active in the account. Press Test Connection and select again.
- Test Connection fails. Check that the token was copied in full from the Developers menu and that your hosting allows outgoing connections to sms.isend.gr.
- The license shows "Inactive". The key is bound to another domain or has expired. Send us the domain and the key and we unlock it.
- No automatic messages go out. Without an active license no module loads, even if Quick Send works. Check the license and that the module is enabled in the settings.
- Not delivered to a specific customer. Check the status in the SMS Log and in the platform's Reports. The article on delivery statuses explains what each one means.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate account for the plugin?
No. The plugin uses the iSend account you already have, with its API Token. Credits, Sender ID and reports are shared with the campaigns you send from the platform.
What happens if the customer does not have Viber?
With the "Viber with SMS fallback" channel, if the Viber message is not delivered, it goes out automatically as an SMS to the same number. OTP codes are always sent as SMS, regardless of the channel.
Can I change the text of the messages?
Yes. Each module has its own templates with variables, such as the customer's name, the order number and the tracking link. The templates follow the rules of characters per SMS, so keep them short.
